About

Mission

To become an active hub for sharing stories and resources for creating a zero emission home. To lead by example, providing inspiring examples for every homeowner situation, budget, and location – and to be a catalyst for helping more and more Americans reach zero emissions every year.

Who We Are

Those of us that have shared stories share a simple but ambitious goal of achieving zero emission homes or households – ideally by 2030. We are concerned about climate change and wanting to be part of the solution and motivated to show the way versus waiting to follow the crowd.

Founder

This site was started in 2024 by Steve Richard. He and his wife live on Bainbridge Island in Washington. After working in Silicon Valley, Steve started a community non-profit called Sustainable Lafayette in 2007 and then co-launched the Bay Area Chapter of the Climate Reality Project in 2016. Now, he and his wife are working hard to become a zero emission household by 2030 and wanting to help and inspire others with the same goal. Currently they live in a townhouse with 33 solar panels in an eco-community called Grow, and drive an electric car.
